Rio Tinto Aluminium's managing director Smelting (NZ & UK) and a small team which provides strategic functions such as commercial services, taxation, power management and external affairs are based in Wellington, New Zealand.
The Wellington office is shared with the Sumitomo Chemicals Limited New Zealand representative. Rio Tinto Aluminium and Sumitomo are joint owners of New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited at Tiwai Point.
