Tom Campbell

Managing Director - Smelting (New Zealand & UK)

Tom Campbell is responsible for Rio Tinto Aluminium's managed operations New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited (NZAS) and Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited as well as for Rio Tinto Aluminium Technology, based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Previously, Tom was chief operating officer for Rio Tinto Aluminium New Zealand with responsibility for NZAS. Prior to this he was general manager operations at NZAS.

Born in Scotland, Tom gained a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy from Strathclyde University, Glasgow. Following nine years with the British Steel Corporation, Tom emigrated to New Zealand in 1981 with his wife and two children (a third was born in Invercargill in 1983).

Tom's previous roles have included: general manager of Southern Copper (Australia), general manager CRA Research & Technology on projects in New Zealand, Chile, Venezuela, and managing director of Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited.
